Preparation time: 10 minutes.
Cooking Time: 20 minutes.
Makes 4-6 hand-sized meatballs.
1 lb fresh minced or ground beef
** If using frozen meat, make sure this is thoroughly thawed**
1 small onion - finely chopped
1 slice soft white bread - crusts removed
1 egg - beaten.
1 Oxo cube
Sea Salt and freshly ground black pepper (optional)
1. Place minced beef in a large mixing bowl.
2. Finely chop onion and add to mince, mixing well with hands.
3. Break bread into small pieces and add to mince and onion. Mix well with hands.
4. add beaten egg and mix thoroughly with hands.
5. Crumble Oxo cube into mixture and mix well with hands.
6. Add salt and pepper if required. Mix thoroughly with hands until mixture forms a stodgy dough.
7. Form mixture into hand-sized meatballs and set aside on a dinner plate.
8. Cover the bottom of a large frying pan with vegetable oil - or cooking oil of your choice - and heat gently.
9. Drop meatballs into pan and cook on a low-medium heat for approximately 20 minutes, turning occasionally.
When cooked, meatballs should be firm to the touch and slightly crisped.
To Test: remove from heat and leave to cool for a short while. touch lightly with the fingers or tap with a skewer. Stab meatballs with a skewer. If this is clean when removed, your meatballs are cooked.
Freezing Guidelines: Freeze in an air-tight container before cooking.
